Financial Aid at Southeastern offers several levels of assistance for the various academic programs of the Seminary and College. The Southern Baptist Convention Cooperative Program for Southern Baptist students provides the most significant contribution for assistance. Please explore the available options for your education level and contact our office for any further questions.
Southeastern works entirely through private scholarships and grants. We do not accept Title IV Federal Aid. Please do not submit a FAFSA or apply for federally subsidized loans.
Cooperative Program: As a member of a Southern Baptist church students automatically receive a 50% discount off their tuition, providing an annual subsidy for each student of approximately $4,400. Student aid at Southeastern begins with the commitment of the Southern Baptist Convention to theological education.
Southeastern Scholarships: Other types of aid are made possible through gifts and funds established by individual and corporate donors, as well as specific scholarships and reimbursement grants available for undergraduate students. These make it possible to provide emergency grants, and scholarships to qualified students.
State Scholarships: Some state organizations and foundations provide scholarships for our students. The student should contact the state organization directly to learn eligibility requirements and deadline stipulations as well as to obtain applications. Most state organizations determine residency based upon one's driver's license and filing of taxes.

Should I submit a FAFSA? No. Southeastern works entirely through private scholarships and grants. We do not accept Title IV Federal Aid.
Do I have to be accepted at College at Southeastern or SEBTS to begin applying for scholarships/loans? No. Many scholarships have a very early application deadline and the applicant should not wait until he/she is fully accepted to Southeastern to apply.
Can I defer my student loans while I am a student at Southeastern? Southeastern Seminary is approved to certify enrollment eligibility for repayment deferments for most federal or state education loans received in college. Students should contact their lending institutions for advice and information. Such deferments should be referred to Southeastern's Registrar's Office.
When is my scholarship applied to my account? The Financial Aid Office verifies that you are enrolled for the amount of credit hours required before applying your scholarship(s). Scholarships are applied to your account each semester after the last day to drop a class without academic penalty.
If scholarships do not cover the entire tuition amount, do I need to make payment on the difference? Yes. If pending financial aid will only cover a portion of your student balance, you must make payment on the difference by the payment deadline to avoid dropped classes.
What is the FACTS payment plan/How do I sign up for the FACTS payment plan? Students may enroll in a no-interest monthly payment plan. FACTS is a third-party administrator that provides students with either a 5- or 4-month payment plan during the fall and spring semesters. Summer term requires a 3- or 2-month payment plan.
