Check out this slideshow of our Spring Break 2010 mission trip to Mexico.

Boston

  • 15 seats available
  • Led by Mike Dodson
  • This trip will be worth 3 credit hours (tuition costs are waived)
  • $850 ($100 deposit due at sign-up)

With the help of field partners and church planters (from SEBTS) in Boston, this will engage in witnessing, service projects, and various other ministry opportunities. The team will work in a variety of ministry settings and cultural dynamics. Contact Dr. Mike Dodson (mdodson@sebts.edu) or Sarah McCartney (smccartney@sebts.edu) for more information. Stop by the CGCS to sign up, to put down your deposit, and to receive fundraising help and instructions.

Haiti

  • $1,000 ($100 deposit due at sign-up)

This team will work with an orphanage in Haiti to minister to their physical and spiritual needs. The team will be able to share the gospel through medical, sports, and educational avenues and will also be able to help train local pastors. Contact Seth Bible (sbible@sebts.edu) or Sarah McCartney (smccartney@sebts.edu) for more information. Stop by the CGCS to sign up, to put down your deposit, and to receive fundraising help and instructions.

Bolivia

  • November 12 - 21, 2010
  • 10 seats available
  • Led by Nannette Godwin
  • This trip will be worth 3 credit hours (tuition costs are waived)
  • $2,000 ($200 deposit due at sign-up)

The Bolivia team will work with local missionaries using a unique evangelistic method. Team members will teach keyboard lessons to interested students and will build upon that relationship to share Christ with their students and their friends and families. You do not need to be able to play the piano to teach keyboard! Before leaving for Bolivia, Dr. Godwin will take the team through four lessons, teaching team members how to use her piano-teaching curriculum to both teach keyboard and to train Bolivian Christians to teach it, as well. For more information about Keyboard Evangelism and this trip, contact Dr. Godwin (ngodwin@sebts.edu) or Sarah McCartney (smccartney@sebts.edu). Stop by the CGCS to sign up, to put down your deposit, and to receive fundraising help and instructions.

India

  • January 5 - 16, 2011
  • 10 seats available
  • Led by George Robinson
  • This trip will be worth 3 credit hours (tuition costs are waived)
  • $2,500 ($200 deposit due at sign-up)

The India team will work with IMB missionaries (SEBTS graduates) to train national pastors in evangelism, discipleship and church planting. Participation in this trip must be initiated in conversation with Dr. Robinson (grobinson@sebts.edu).

There are several other trips being planned for the 2010-2011 school year. We will post them as they become available.

Travel Tips

1. Prayer. Bathe any and every trip in prayer.

2. Make copies of your passport details, insurance policy, visas and credit card numbers. Carry one copy in a separate place to the originals and leave a copy with someone at home.

3. Make sure your passport has at least six months validity and carry additional copies of your passport photo with you in case you need a replacement passport while overseas.

4. Keep your passport and money on your person not in separate or unsecured bag while overseas.

5. Leave a copy of your travel itinerary with someone at home and keep in regular contact with friends and relatives while overseas.

6. Check with health professionals for information on recommended vaccinations or other precautions and find out about overseas laws on traveling with medicines.

7. Google your destination and explore country and cultural facts. You may also want to pick up a travel guide for your destination.

8. Pack smart and light. Check the airline website to know the allowable weight and pieces of luggage. Don't pack more than you can reasonably carry for up to a mile.

9. Don't wear ostentatious jewelry or other conspicuous items. Be discreet with money, credit cards, and electronic items. These things make you an easy target for crime.

10. Be prepared for your body to be out-of-whack and for potential inconveniences. Nothing is guaranteed in overseas travel!
