Mentorship Program

Program DescriptionCadre of students

The Center for Faith and Culture is beginning the application process for the 2010-2011 Mentorship Program. The Mentorship Program at the CFC is designed to mentor a small cadre of students interested in thinking critically about crucial cultural issues in light of biblical Christianity. The format will examine different areas of culture in order to identify basic assumptions, beliefs, and values that give shape to the prevailing ideas and practices of Western culture. The end point is to think about how evangelical Christianity might respond in a constructive, but corrective fashion. The group will meet once or twice a month for thought-provoking discussions which will involve certain pre-meeting assignments. These assignments may include short selected readings, questions for discussion and/or selected subjects for research.

Application Process

Those interested in being involved in this program should indicate their interest by emailing Sarah Sheaffer ssheaffer@sebts.edu  a 100 word paragraph stating why you would like to be part of this group. Also please indicate in which degree program you are presently enrolled. Additionally, if you know what your fall schedule will be, please indicate day and time of day that would be most preferable to you as the time and frequency of meeting will be determined after the availability those selected is compiled.  Should you be selected you are expected to attend all the sessions (of course there could be exceptions for one or two times) and actively participate in the discussion time. If you feel you cannot make that commitment, then you should not apply as openings for the program are limited.

The group will begin meeting the first part of September 2010. The deadline for receiving your paragraph is April 20, 2010.
