The Library subscribes to a variety of databases that provide full-text access to resources and that support the curriculum. Current faculty, students and staff can gain access to the databases by logging in with their campus ID and the last 4 digits of their Social. Databases with a ** are free.
Academic Search Premier is a multi-disciplinary database that provides full text for more than 4,500 journals, including peer-reviewed titles.
ATLA Religion Index Supports religious and theological scholarship in graduate education and faculty research. It contains thousands of citations from international titles and multi-author works in the field of religion going back to 1924. It includes a full range of index citations to journal articles, essays in multi-author works, and book reviews. It also provides sermon preparation resources with illustrations and lectionary resources.
Dissertation Abstracts selectively covers master's theses and dissertations from the United States, Canada, Great Britain, and Europe going back to 1861.
**Documenting the American South is a digital publishing initiative that provides Internet access to texts, images, and audio files related to southern history, literature, and culture. Currently DocSouth includes twelve thematic collections of books, diaries, posters, artifacts, letters, oral history interviews, and songs. This also contains information on southern churches, church groups and pastors.
EJS-EJournals helps identify article-level access for thousands of E-Journals available through EBSCO's Electronic Journal Service (EJS). In some cases it even provides links directly to publishers' content.
ERIC is an index to published and unpublished research documents and journal articles in education going back to 1966. ERIC includes some full-text documents at no charge.
**Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature across many disciplines and sources: peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations.
GreenFILE offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 384,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,700 records.
Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA) indexes journals, books, research reports and proceedings relating to librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, and information management. Coverage in the database extends back as far as the mid-1960s.
New Testament Abstracts Online is an indispensable database of research and bibliographic aid for scholars, librarians, clergy and students of the New Testament and its historical milieu going back to 1985. The database contains abstracts of articles, reviews, books, and software.
Old Testament Abstracts Online features indexing and abstracts for journal articles, monographs, multi-author works, and software related to Old Testament studies going back to 1978. Topics covered include antiquities, archaeology, biblical theology, and philology.
Philosopher's Index is a current and comprehensive bibliographic database covering scholarly research in all major fields of philosophy. The Philosopher's Index is considered the most thorough index of journal literature on the subject. It features author-written abstracts covering scholarly research published in journals and books, including contributions to anthologies and book reviews. The Philosopher's Index contains research published since 1940.
Research Starters-Education is study and research guides designed specifically for advanced high school students, college students and selected graduate students. They consist of comprehensive, yet concise topic summary articles of about 3,000 words in length written by researchers, scholars and other subject matter experts. These articles are designed to be starting points for students to topic overviews, definitions of relevant terms and concepts, detailed bibliographies, and links to top articles from the relevant database(s). Research Starters supplements textbooks and other materials with current and focused topic overviews, assisting students in undertaking their assignments and research successfully.
Wilson Select Plus Provides indexed and abstracted records with accompanying full-text periodical articles going back to 1994, many of which are linked to citations in other First Search databases. It includes US and international professional publications, academic journals, and trade magazines.
World Cat Contains all the records of items cataloged by OCLC member libraries. You can use this database to find where in the world an item is and then request it using the ILL function.
