The Office of Student Success at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary exists to offer services and provide resources to assist students in completing their degree in a timely manner. Services include academic advising, academic coaching, academic probation/suspension recovery, and overseeing the expedited readmission process.

Chris D. Lee

Student Success Coordinator

Chris serves Southeastern by leading institutional discussions and strategies to increase retention, persistence, and graduation rates and promote student success. He is currently a doctoral candidate for the PhD in Philosophy of Religion and has been serving as an adjunct professor at the College since Fall 2021. As a lifelong learner, Chris has completed degrees in biblical and theological studies (BA), apologetics (MA), philosophy (MA), and ethical and philosophical studies (ThM). He is an avid-reader, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner, and a passionate educator dedicated to helping students succeed.

McKye Bramblett

Academic Advisors

McKye started at Southeastern in 2023 to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Ministry. He is passionate about teaching and preaching God’s Word in a manner that builds up the body of Christ. McKye is currently a member of Faith Franklinton Baptist Church where he serves by teaching children. He also enjoys playing the guitar and reading a good book. McKye is excited about serving the students of Southeastern and helping them achieve the plans God has laid out for them.

Ryan Robbins

Ryan started at Southeastern in the Fall of 2023 to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration. Once he has completed his degree, he desires to use it to help in overseas missions as a means of reaching the lost for Christ. Ryan is a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church in Elkin, NC, where he serves with the Outreach Team and the Tech Team. He loves reading, learning, and playing disc golf. Ryan is passionate about helping other students succeed on their academic journey and is looking forward to meeting with you soon!

Luci Walters

Academic Advisor

Luci started at Southeastern in 2021. She is in the 5-year BA/MA Christian Counseling program. She is passionate about helping people heal their relationships, and is excited to serve Christ as a marriage and family therapist one day. She is a member of Wake Crossroads Baptist Church. She loves spending time with loved ones, playing the harp, trying out makeup products, going to the gym, baking, reading psychology, and writing. She is excited to support and encourage you in your academic journey!

Questions about Registration & Payment for Classes

- Go to Self Service. Click on the “Registration” tab in the top left of the page, then “Courses.” You may search for your classes by course code number or course title. When you find the class you need, click “Add.” Then go to the “Cart” icon on the top left of the page and select “Register.”
- To ensure that you are taking course that contribute to your degree, be sure to review your Academic Plan on Self Service or schedule a meeting online with an Academic Advisor.
- Self Service -> Finances -> Balance -> Pay Online or Create Payment Plan. For more information about fees or financial aid, please contact accountingservices@sebts.edu (919-761-2207) or financialaid@sebts.edu (919-761-2317)
- For undergraduate students, you must receive authorization from an advisor if you are under 63 credit hours.
- Complete Term Check-In on Self Service (Under “Registration” tab)
- Check to see if your account is on hold for overdue balances, academic probation or suspension.
- Check seat availability for a course.
- Check to see if a class is reserved for DL students only.
- Check to see if you are registering for the undergraduate (1000-4000 level) or graduate level (5000-7000) for a course.
  
  Please note that the level numbers do not necessarily represent the level of course difficulty or the exact order in which classes must be taken.
- Students who are pursuing a graduate certificate at Southeastern are able to register on the start date of the Fall/Spring semester. Follow this link to see our graduate certificates.

- The add/drop deadlines for each semester are posted on the academic calendar here: https://www.sebts.edu/academics/masters/academic-calendar.aspx. After the payment deadline, there is a $25 late fee assessed per add/drop.

Questions about Academic Plans, Degrees, and Dropping/Withdrawing from Classes?

- Students who are enrolling for their first semester at Southeastern will be unable to see their Academic Plan under the “Registration” tab on Self Service until the start date of their first semester.
- If you view your Academic Plan on Self Service and notice that your completed classes are not assigned to their designated sections and are listed under a section titled “Courses Not Assigned to this Plan,” please contact registrar@sebts.edu to see about updating your Academic Plan.
- If your Academic Plan is updated and still shows classes under “Courses Not Assigned to this Plan,” it may be because those classes cannot contribute to your degree track. Please reach out to studentsuccess@sebts.edu to ensure that you take classes that contribute to your degree plan.
- First, it is important to understand the difference in a drop and withdraw:
- Drop: dropping a course may occur up until the Drop Deadline (noted on the Academic Calendar). This can be done through Self-Service (register tab → traditional courses → click the term → check the box next to the course you want to drop → hit next and finalize the process). OR by contacting the Registrar’s Office via phone or e-mail. To drop a course in Self-Service, A dropped course will not show up on your transcript and all tuition payments will be reimbursed as a credit to the student’s NelNet account.
- Withdraw: withdrawing from a course occurs when you no longer wish to be enrolled in a course but the Drop Deadline has passed. To withdraw, you must submit the “Withdrawal from a Single Course” form found on Campus Net under “Forms and Info”. If you withdraw, the professor will give the approval on the requested form as well as a Withdraw Pass or Withdraw Fail. The “WP” or “WF” will appear on your transcript.
- Furthermore, the student will still be held responsible for tuition; in other words, tuition is not refunded.
- Note that changes in registration after the payment deadline will incur $25 add/drop fees per registration change.
Withdraw from Course
- Change of Degree: If a student would like to change their degree from MA to MDiv, MDiv to MA, or into any MA Research degree (including MA Christian Studies), they will need to reapply using this form: https://apply.sebts.edu/register/degreechange . The student’s former transcripts, immunization records, and any personal statements will be sent from the Registrar’s Office to the Admissions office.
- Change of Curriculum: If a student would like to change their curriculum from a MDiv to another MDiv or a vocational MA to another vocational MA, please have them fill out this curriculum change form: https://apply.sebts.edu/register/currchange .
- If a student would like to add a degree to their current degree, please ensure that they meet the conditions below before filling out this Additional Degree Application: https://apply.sebts.edu/register/additionaldegreeapp
  
  The student is currently enrolled at Southeastern and are in good standing (no academic/disciplinary probation or suspension).
  
  The student is wishing to ADD a degree to the degree they are currently seeking; the student is not seeking a new degree to replace their old one.
  
  Please be aware that using this application does not automatically grant a student admission into a new degree. The student’s file will be reviewed by the Admissions Office and the student will be notified of any Admissions Committee decisions.
  
  Be aware of restrictions regarding sharing credits if you are adding a second degree. Please consult with the Student Success office to determine what restrictions may apply.

Questions about Transcripts and Transfer Credits

- Official Transcripts: Southeastern students can request an official copy of their academic transcript through Transcripts Plus here: https://www.sebts.edu/academics/Registrar1/transcripts.aspx.
- Transcripts can be sent electronically as a PDF (recommended), as a hard copy via mail, or picked up at the Registrar’s Office. The cost for an official transcript is $10 plus a handling fee (see the order form for more details).
- If a student has questions or problems completing their order OR are uncomfortable placing an order over the internet, they can contact Credentials Customer Service at 1-847-716-3005. There is an additional operator surcharge for placing orders over the phone. Credentials hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM EST and Friday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST.
- Unofficial Transcripts: For unofficial transcripts, former students without CampusNet access can contact the Registrar’s Office at registrar@sebts.edu or (919) 761-2215. Current students can access their unofficial transcript in Self-Service by clicking on Grades > View Grades > Unofficial Transcript.
- Southeastern accepts undergraduate and graduate credit received from regionally accredited universities as long as a student receives a “C-” or higher in the course. If a student would like to have their transcripts evaluated to see what credit is eligible to be transferred, please have them contact the Registrar’s Office at 919-761-2215 or registrar@sebts.edu.
- Please note: At least 1/3 of a degree completed at SEBTS must be comprised of credits unique to that degree. Therefore, if a student is transferring credit to complete a degree at Southeastern, they cannot transfer in more than 2/3 of the credits required for the degree.
- The Southeastern Collegiate Partnership (SCP) helps reduce course duplication for students who have completed an undergraduate degree in theological education or taken classes equivalent to those in the M.Div. or M.A. core.
- Eligible students are given the option to either take the SCP exams to receive credit or replace the courses with higher level electives. Whether students choose to take the exam or an elective course, they earn 3 graduate credit hours per test/course toward the completion of a degree. Credit earned through SCP exams is $42/credit hour. Eligibility for the SCP is determined by a transcript evaluation. If the student has already been accepted to SEBTS and would like their transcripts evaluated, please have them complete this SCP Evaluation form: https://www.sebts.edu/admissions-and-aid/SCP.aspx.
