Give to Southeastern

Charitable Trusts

Charitable Trusts are an incredibly powerful way to make a planned gift to Southeastern. Charitable Trusts can be set up to support you, your loved ones, and organizations like Southeastern. Three of the most common trusts are discussed below. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page and we’ll be happy to help you craft the right solution for you and your loved ones.

Charitable Remainder Trusts

What is a Charitable Remainder Trust?

A Charitable Remainder Trust is an irrevocable trust that you set up with the assistance of an attorney or financial advisor to pay you income payments for the remainder of your life (or a fixed term). The remainder of the trust’s assets are given to Southeastern at the end of the life of the trust.

There are two primary forms of Charitable Remainder Trusts:

Charitable Remainder Annuity Trusts (CRATs) pay you fixed income payments based on the initial value of the trust.

Charitable Remainder Uni-Trusts (CRUTs) pay you variable income payments based on the value of the trust at the time.

Charitable Lead Trust

What is a Charitable Lead Trust?

A Charitable Lead Trust is an irrevocable trust that is set up to pay Southeastern for a fixed period of time. After that period of time is complete, the remainder of the trust’s assets are given back to you or your loved ones.

Payments to Southeastern can be fixed with an annuity payout OR variable with a uni-trust payout.

“Give it Twice” Trust:

Testamentary Charitable Remainder Uni-Trust

What is a “Give it Twice” Trust?

A “Give it Twice” Trust is established at death through your will or retirement accounts that are set up to be given away at two different times. First, your loved ones receive variable payments based on the value of the trust for a fixed period of time. Second, after that time has passed, the remainder of the assets are given to Southeastern.
